Lowlights - Adding Depth

The opposite of highlights, lowlights use darker colors to break up over-highlighted hair or to make select strands a bit darker.

Chunking - Dramatic Look

If you’re looking for bold highlights, chunking is the way to go.  Your stylist will randomly section out large chunks of hair and apply color to the selected pieces.

Painting - A Natural Look

Painting uses a brush or comb to literally paint color onto the hair. This helps achieve a natural look.   

Baliage - Highlighting Curly or Wavy Hair

A freeform type of “hair painting” baliage originated in Europe and is one of the most popular techniques. A freeform painting creates a look that is more dimensional and multi-tonal.

Tipping - A Low - Maintenance Look

The highlighting technique lightens the tips of the hair as opposed to the entire strand. This application accentuates the lines of the hair cut and allows for creativity, depending on the desired effect. Best on straight or slightly wavy hair.

Foiling - Getting highlighlights close to the roots

A commonly practiced technique, foiling involves placing the hair in sheets of professional-grade tinfoil to prevent mixing with the rest of the hair.
